Why are population figures shown as projections?
How to read population projections, millions of people, and rounded figures on Rekapitulasi.com.
The dashboard’s 2025 population figure for Indonesia is a projection from a BPS publication, not a live counter. The displayed 284.44 million is rounded from 284,438,800 people.
Source and reference period
The dashboard uses table 14.1 in Kalimantan Tengah Province in Figures 2025, published by BPS. The table includes national and provincial figures. The indicator’s period remains 2025 even if you read it in a later year.
Thousands, millions, and people
The source table uses thousands of people. Its national figure of 284,438.8 thousand equals 284,438,800 people, or 284.4388 million. Dashboard cards display two decimal places for readability.
Small differences between the sum of provincial figures and the national total can result from rounding. Extra digits produced by a unit conversion do not increase the source’s precision.
What can you compare?
The population statistic page shows the national series from 2021 to 2025. Provincial profiles use 2023 to 2025 to avoid mixing displays before and after the Papua divisions.
Keep periods, geographical units, and measurement units consistent. This snapshot does not update automatically. Consult the BPS publication before using the data in reports or decisions.
